Our Story

Rooted Resilience emerged in a post-pandemic world rife with isolation, distress and a sense of being unmoored. So much loss. So much change. So little connection.

People were left to process deep pain, as well as life’s normal hardships, alone.

Many people sought support and found relief in individual therapy. But individual therapy couldn’t address the sense of being alone or give us access to the collective wisdom that arises when we come together with others facing similar challenges.

Katie, Rooted Resilience’s founder, looked for ways to blend her community organizing and mental health backgrounds. She facilitated safe in-person community events so children could play and parents could connect; she moved a longstanding grief group online; and she became a Mindful Self-Compassion teacher.

And she started walking, so much walking. 

Katie saw how much was possible — connection, collective wisdom, skills-building, and hope — when we come together. She realized her expertise in mindfulness, grief, and child-development/parenting could help her build a platform where wise, compassionate experts facilitate communities of learning and connection focused on building resilience and well-being.

This is Rooted Resilience.
